I designed an award-winning poster that serves as both a visceral conversation starter and a direct, confrontation with the reality of systemic violence.

OVERVIEW

The challenge was to engineer a high-impact system that honored the humanity of each individual while maintaining the aesthetic gravity of a global movement. I needed to bridge the gap between cold, systemic facts and the raw, visceral experience of grief, creating a visual beacon that sparks conversation and commands a confrontation with the truth.

SUMMARY

Collaboration
I served as the lead designer, working in a direct, one-on-one partnership with the film’s writer and director. Because of the project's weight, I was given full creative authority to shape the film's visual legacy, acting as the sole architect for the poster’s aesthetic and emotional tone.

Constraints
The primary challenge was the intense cultural gravity surrounding the film’s subject matter. Launching a project centered on police brutality in a highly charged American climate meant the visual identity couldn't just be “good”, it had to be surgical. I took ownership of the public’s potential reaction, navigating the fine line between provocative art and social responsibility. I was tasked with creating an image that commanded attention without being exploitative, ensuring the film’s message landed with the prestige it deserved while respecting the weight of the real-world crisis it mirrored.
